Since 1949, several years after they were established in Asakusa, baker Pelican has offered only three kinds of plain bread, which are a loaf of bread, bread rolls, and buns, even now hundreds of variety of breads/pastries are available anywhere. The owner Watanabe-san says the reason for that on their official page as "If we have a power of ten, we concentrate to make the one, instead of making a hundred. In this way, I think we can get the best of our power."
If you are a bread-lover and have a plan to go there, making an early visit is highly recommended as people always line up and Pelican is closed when the stocks run out.
